    Best time to visit Sweden

    Sweden has a beautiful summer, and the ideal time to visit it would be during the months of June and August. Visiting Sweden between May and June would help in enjoying the spring season. The summers in Sweden are relatively warm. Expect frequent light showers of rain particularly in the area around Gothenburg. The winters are cold, ports are often iced in and the northern area receives a lot of snowfall. The temperature during winter is close to freezing point and even colder in the arctic north and Lappland.

    Tourist spots in Sweden

    • Engelsberg Ironworks, Vastmanland - It showcases the iron works and is one among the UNESCO world heritage sites.
    • The Hanseatic town of Visby - This town is perfect for those looking for historical remains. There is a 3.4 km long stone wall called Ringmuren that encircles the city and the old church ruins. This is the main attraction of this place.
    • Laponian area, Swedish Lapland, Northern Sweden - This is a vast area covered in mountains and wildlife. This is a perfect place to enjoy nature’s beauty.
    • Rock carvings in Tanumshede - This is a beautiful town in Bohuslan, Vastra Gotaland County in western Sweden. Rock carvings found here are dates back to Iron Age and Bronz Age.
    • Skogskyrkogarden, Stockholm - When translated, Skogskyrkogarden means “The Woodland Cemetery”. This cemetry is located in southern Stockholm.

    • One star Hotels: Communal toilet and bath facility for every ten rooms, washbasin with hot and cold running water in the room, central heating, breakfast, round the clock admittance.
    • Two star Hotels: 40% of the rooms have en-suite toilets and bath facilities. Refreshments available for purchase.
    • Three star Hotels: En-suite toilet and bathroom, telephone and TV in all guest rooms, access to guest PC, hotel staffed during daytime, lift, and no-smoking rooms.
    • Four-star Hotels: Many four-stars organise excursions for their guests during the holiday seasons and during the summer the higher end hotels will almost certainly have swimming provision for their guests. Room service, hotel staffed 24 hours a day, international TV channels, all guest rooms have internet connection, the hotel must offer photocopying facilities and laundry service, and furnishings must meet certain comfort requirements.
    • Hostels: there are nearly 300 youth hostels in Sweden
    • Bed and Breakfast: Are generally houses with two or three rooms. Charges are per room basis. Bathrooms are shared.
    • Apartments: The best of apartments are located in Stockholm. Most of them have alarm clock, answer phone, bath robes, colour TV, video, computer hook-up, direct dial telephone, full kitchen, fax, hairdryer, iron, power shower, sofa and bed in lounge, stereo, toiletries, welcome pack, Self catering required. Cheaper apartments also available.
