    Best time to visit Iceland

    Summer is the most popular time of the year for visiting Iceland. Summer is great for traveling around the country, you can see the best of nature, days are long and the weather is generally fine in summer.

    Winter is a good time to come here if you want tom experience traveling on snow scooters or jeeps for fun. The nature looks beautiful in winter, but days are shorter and the weather may not be very nice. December and January are the darkest time of the year; there is daylight for only a couple of hours per day and when it's very cloudy there may be no daylight at all.

    Tourist spots in Iceland

    • The Blue Lagoon - The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa. It is one of the most visited attractions in Iceland. Its steamy waters are known to be effective in curing skin diseases. This surely is a favourite destination for the tourist.
    • Lake Myvatn - This shallow eutrophic lake is situated in an area of active volcanism in the north of Iceland. Fauna plays an important role in making this lake exceptionaly beautiful. Ducks in the lake adds to its glory.
    • Westman Islands - This is a chain of islands situsted at the south coast of Iceland. Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in Europe is another strong attraction of this place.

    Hotels in Iceland

    • One- star Hotels: All rooms are equipped with washbasin and there is at least one bathroom for every 10 rooms. There is access to a public telephone, breakfast is available and guests can come and go any time of the day or night.
    • Two-star Hotels: In addition to the one star’s facilities, there is a telephone booth or a public telephone where the guests can speak in privacy. There is a bar or services counter where it is possible to buy light refreshments, as well as a dining room where breakfast is served, and other meals, depending on circumstances. The rooms may be equipped with a private bathroom, but this is not a condition.
    • Three-star Hotels: In addition to the class above, all rooms are equipped with a private bathroom, telephone, television, radio and desk. There is a service counter open during the day and it is possible to buy small items, reading materials etc. Goods and services can be paid for by credit card. There is a lift in the building, if guest rooms are three or more levels above the reception.
    • Four-star Hotels: In addition there are easy chairs in all rooms. TV with remote control, satellite channels and a movie or video channel. There is room service day and night, or a mini bar, an “a la carte” restaurant, and breakfast can be ordered in guest rooms. There is also a clothes cleaning service. There is a lift in the building, if the guest rooms are on two or more levels above the reception.

    • Apartments: Guesthouses are also available and are a little more expensive than hostels but usually give you a little more room.
